Description

SQL Server, SQL Server Desktop Engine, and Desktop Engine contains a flaw that may allow a remote denial of service. The issue is triggered when an attackers sends a large packet to a specific named pipe and will result in loss of availability for the service.

Solution

Currently, there are no known workarounds or upgrades to correct this issue. However, Microsoft Corporation has released a patch to address this vulnerability. Additionally, disable named pipes as a SQL Server protocol by using the SQL
Server Network Utility.
