Description |
Ethereal contains a flaw that may allow a remote denial of service. The issue is triggered when the SNMP dissector is used and a packet contains a malformed or missing community string, and will result in loss of availability for the service.

Solution |
Upgrade to version 0.10.5 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. It is also possible to correct the flaw by implementing the following workaround(s): disable the SNMP protocol dissector by selecting Analyze->Enabled Protocols... and deselecting SNMP from the list
