Description

Ethereal contains a flaw that may allow a remote denial of service. The issue is triggered when SMB SID snooping is used and there is no policy name for a handle, which will result in loss of availability for the service.

Solution

Upgrade to version 0.10.5 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. It is also possible to correct the flaw by implementing the following workaround(s): disable SID snooping in the SMB protocol preferences.
