Description

nfs-utils rpc.statd contains a flaw that may allow a remote denial of service. The issue is triggered when a TCP connection is closed early, and will result in a loss of availability.

Technical

Due to an incorrect handling of SIGPIPE, closing a TCP connection early to the rpc.statd service can crash it.

Solution

Upgrade to version 1.0.6-r6 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.
