Description

A remote overflow exists in OfficeScan. The 'tmlisten.exe' script fails to perform proper bounds checking resulting in a buffer overflow. With a specially crafted request containing random data to port 12345, a remote attacker can cause the service to crash resulting in a loss of availability.

Technical

Insufficient encryption and authentication between the OfficeScan server and the client could also allow a malicious user to capture administrative commands by using a network sniffer, which could then be modified and replayed against other clients to cause them to perform a variety of actions.

Solution

Upgrade to version 3.51 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.
