Description

News contains a flaw that may allow an attacker to carry out an SQL injection attack. The issue is due to the index.php script not properly sanitizing user-supplied input to the 'id' variable. This may allow an attacker to inject or manipulate SQL queries in the backend database.

Technical

This vulnerability is only present when the magic_quotes_gpc PHP option is 'off'.

Solution

Upgrade to version 1.2 or 1 (2005-11-30) or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. Note that this flaw was fixed in the 2005-11-30 release without a change in version number. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.
