Description

phpCOIN contains a flaw that may allow a remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands. The issue is due to 'db.php' not properly sanitizing user input supplied to the '_CCFG[_PKG_PATH_DBSE]' variable. This may allow a remote attacker to include a file from a remote host that contains arbitrary commands which will be executed by the vulnerable script.

Technical

This vulnerability is only present when the register_globals and allow_url_fopen PHP options are set to 'on'.

Solution

Upgrade to version 1.2.2 (2005-12-13) or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. Note that this flaw was fixed in the 2005-12-13 release without a change in version number. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.
