Description

TYPSoft FTPD Server contains a flaw that may allow a remote denial of service. The issue is triggered when the service receives an invalid path request, and will result in loss of availability for the service.

Technical

The problem is that the FTP server fails to handle certain queries for invalid paths such as "//./". This causes the FTP service to stop responding.

Such path requests can be made using the following arguments: mkd, xmkd, dele, size, retr, stor, appe, rnfr, rnto, rmd, xrmd

Solution

Upgrade to version 1.11 or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.
