Description

Samba contains a flaw that may allow a remote denial of service. The issue is triggered when sending a 'FindNextPrintChangeNotify()' request from a Windows XP SP2 client without initially issuing a 'FindFirstPrintChangeNotify()' request, which could allow a remote attacker to cause the Samba daemon to crash, resulting in a loss of availability for the service.

Solution

Upgrade to version 2.2.11 or 3.0.x or higher, as it has been reported to fix this vulnerability. An upgrade is required as there are no known workarounds.
